Ambassadors for CWA

Meet Our Ambassador: Nicky Brindley MBE

We are incredibly proud to welcome Nicky Brindley MBE as an official Ambassador of Central Women’s Aid. Nicky is a passionate advocate for families fleeing domestic abuse, with a longstanding commitment to creating safer futures and promoting support for survivors.

💜 A Champion for Survivors of Abuse

Nicky implemented the ground-breaking scheme that involved placing specialist workers engaged at Job Centres, specifically to help and support people at risk of domestic abuse thus ensuring help is accessible at one of the most critical points of contact.

J9 Initiative Nottingham

Nicky is responsible for bringing the J9 Initiative to Nottingham, creating a network of J9 safe spaces for survivors to access the support they need — safely and discreetly with a private space and phone to contact support services.

The J9 project trains frontline staff in community spaces to: recognise signs of domestic abuse and respond appropriately to survivors. When a space displays the J9 logo, it means trained staff are present, and survivors can safely ask for help.

Nicky’s passion is supporting families fleeing domestic abuse with practical items to help them recover and rebuild their lives. She is also a pro at coordinating collections for Easter and Christmas, ensuring every family and all women and child living in refuge accommodation receive gifts.

Nicky brings both compassion and action to everything she does.

💬 Why Nicky Supports Central Women’s Aid

“It is such a huge honour to be asked to be the Ambassador of Central Women’s Aid.
I have seen the amazing work they do to support women and children — they provide life-changing support.
I was introduced to Central Women’s Aid 9 years ago, and every day I see the incredible work they do. They go above and beyond. Their passion is extraordinary, and to support in any way I can means everything.

Hopefully, we will see more women and children live a life free of fear.
I am incredibly proud to be an ambassador of this remarkable charity.”
